Our Sweet Red NANNA GELSO is named after Terranzo’s maternal grandmother, Maria. Apart from saying her name with every tasting and bottle sold, her rose is growing in the garden here on the Hill. She left Sicily as a bride of 17, never to return. Like this rose, she put down loving roots in her adopted homeland. salute, Maria! alla prossima tutti!

This month, the 8th in our Gregorian Calandar, but in the Roman calendar the 6th ‘SIXTILUS’ (yes, 10 months in their calendar year until re-organised by Big Juli (Julius Caesar) It was renamed after J’s grandnephew Gaius Octavius, his adopted son and heir became Emperor with the title AUGUSTUS. It originally had only 29 days… but that’s a story for another time!
